Kweku Apreku Agyepong, a student of the University of Ghana has clinched a win in the public speaking category of the 2020 World Universities Debating Championship in Thailand.
The level 300 student pursuing a Bachelor of Law degree, emerged winner of the championship after successfully defending the category at the tournament after Jeremiah Sekyi thrashed other contenders to be crowned winner in 2019. The event was held from December 26, 2019, to January 4, 2020, at the Assumption University of Thailand in Bangkok which saw over 400 teams from 250 universities and tertiary institutions participating. The World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) is the world's largest debating tournament, and one of the largest annual international student events in the world.
With the yearly world championships fashioned on the on British Parliamentary debate model, teams are given a topic and 15 minutes to prepare to argue the pro and con, which is both sides of the topic. Points earned during preliminaries are calmianted to determine the field for elimination rounds.

The first World Universities Debating Championship was held in Glasgow, Scotland in 1981 and the best speaker was Andrew Taylor, Hart House. Each year, a university selected by the World Universities Debating Council to host the event.
